Dear Members & Friends of Maryland Works:
Happy New Year!
The new year brings new opportunities. The Maryland General Assembly will convene on January 11th. Elections bring change; the 2022 election brought historic change to Maryland. Wes Moore will be the State’s first – and the nation’s third elected – Black Governor. His running mate – former Delegate Aruna Miller – became the first immigrant and the first Asian American official elected statewide. Delegate Brooke Lierman was elected Comptroller, becoming the first woman elected directly to Statewide office. Attorney General-elect Anthony Brown became the first Black Attorney General in Maryland. I sense an incoming abundance of positive energy, innovation and opportunities emerging for our State.
Maryland Works will continue to advocate in Annapolis for resources and employment of individuals with disabilities. We are grateful for our members and partners who make advancing our mission possible. Without these valuable and meaningful relationships we would not be able to serve the needs of our customers, and more directly, make an impact on the lives of those with disabilities. We are thankful for all that you do to make us successful and are always honored to work alongside you.
The team at Maryland Works is committed to enhancing programming and employment for individuals with disabilities and supporting and providing our members with resources and training in 2023. To meet the needs of our members we need to hear from you. Please email us at registration@mdworks.com with any training needs.
Wishing you all the best as we begin 2023.
“What the new year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the new year.” Vern McLellan
