Maryland's Money Follows the Person Stakeholder Input Webinar

Join the Maryland Department of Health's Developmental Disabilities stakeholders webinar on the "Money Follows the Person (MFP) Supplemental Services" on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 12 - 1 p.m

Money Follows the Person (MFP) is a federal demonstration offered through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The MFP demonstration will:

  • Assist states in rebalancing long term services and supports (LTSS) systems;

  • Increase the use of Home and Community- Based Services (HCBS); and

  • Remove barriers to receiving services in the community.

Mr. Wayne Reed, III, Money Follows the Person Demonstration Grant Project Director, Division of Long Term Care Services will share an overview of the MFP recent changes.  He will also share the opportunity for Maryland to expand the types of support services and funding levels already available under MFP.  These services and options are for people transitioning from an institution back to their communities.  Examples of institutions include the Holly Center, Potomac Center, and nursing facilities.

Stakeholder input is encouraged  around:

  • Supports to identify and set up independent housing

  • Rental assistance and associated utility expenses

  • Funding level for initial groceries/pantry stock

  • Home modifications 

  • Vehicle modifications 

  • Community transition service 

  • Financial and administrative barriers to transition from a institution to the community
