This course teaches participants a way of thinking that leads to effective strategy development, assesses risk, and introduces operational problem-solving techniques. Strategic Thinking is the intellectually disciplined process of conceptualizing, analyzing, and synthesizing information generated by experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and action. In its exemplary form, it is based on universal intellectual values that transcend subject matter divisions: clarity, accuracy, precision, consistency, relevance, sound evidence, good reasons, depth, breadth, and fairness.

Learning Content:

· Describe what strategic thinking is and explain why it is valuable in making decisions

· Understand strategic thinking as it pertains to the workplace

· Describe and apply the basics of strategic reasoning and problem-solving

· Explore the importance of raising vital questions and problems

· Learn how to gather and assess relevant information, using abstract ideas to interpret it effectively

· Understand how to think open-mindedly within alternative systems of thought, recognizing and assessing, as need be, their assumptions, implications, and practical consequences

· Learn key steps to communicate effectively in figuring out solutions to complex problems

· Understand the process of systematic problem solving

· Learn how to assess possible solutions and associated risks, and hone your strategic decision-making skills

· Identify and overcome barriers to strategic thinking that can stall decision making

· Explore the value of thinking Outside-the-Box: Challenging the Premise (What if?)

This course includes real world case studies, relative examples, and exercises, and best practice tools to support the learning experience and application.

Unregistered Attendees: Training fees are per seat. Only those who have registered for a training are allowed to attend. If MD Works identifies unregistered attendees in a training course, MD Works will invoice for each unregistered attendee.
