This presentation will provide an overview of the Registered Apprenticeship model, its components, and how it can benefit both job seekers and employers.
Facilitators:
Jeffrey Smith has served in various positions related to workforce development, government relations, and development/public affairs throughout his career in both the public and private sectors. For workforce development, Jeff has conducted successful advocacy efforts through direct interaction with Members of the Maryland General Assembly, legislators from Congress, and with local government officials across Maryland. He also has administered a number of workforce development initiatives, including those related to business services, workforce board operations, grants development, and job-seeker assistance. Jeff presently serves as the Program Manager for Apprenticeship and Training with the Maryland Department of Labor, where among other duties he oversees the state’s Apprenticeship Maryland Program youth apprenticeship initiative, which has grown to include twenty-one of Maryland’s twenty-four counties.
Jane Sinclair brings a wealth of workforce development expertise to her role as an Apprenticeship Navigator for Maryland Department of Labor’s Registered Apprenticeship and Training Program. Jane’s primary service region includes Southern Maryland and Anne Arundel County. Before joining the State’s Labor Department five years ago, Jane worked with underserved populations in Anne Arundel County, providing Supported Employment Services and Counseling to individuals with disabilities. Jane also served two terms on the Board of ARI Accessible Resources for Independence (The Center for Independent Living for Anne Arundel Co. and Howard Co.) and was appointed for two terms on the Anne Arundel County Commission on Disability Issues, serving as Vice Chairperson.

This payment is not deductible as a charitable contribution but may be deducted as a business expense. Please provide notice of accommodations needed two weeks in advance.
- Courses have individual attendance requirements to receive a certificate. Please inquire with the trainer before missing any classes.
- Unregistered Attendees: Training fees are per seat. Only those who have registered for a training are allowed to attend. If MD Works identifies unregistered attendees in a training course, MD Works will invoice for each unregistered attendee.
