Penn-Mar Human Services Background and Expertise

Penn-Mar Human Services is a nonprofit that supports people to live courageously in pursuit of their best life. We work with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a variety of ways, such as assisting them to secure a job, be an active member of their community, build independence, or develop new relationships, and are committed to supporting people on their own unique personal journeys. Founded in 1981 by 12 visionary families who teamed up to help their adult children with disabilities unlock new opportunities for independence, our initial budget was just $2,000 annually. Today we operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and support 500+ adults with disabilities daily through an array of customizable services and supports. We also support an additional 1,000+ people annually through Low-Intensity Support Services. Penn-Mar offers supports throughout Maryland and Pennsylvania, employs roughly 600 team members, and has an annual budget of over $48 million. With over 40 years in the field, Penn-Mar’s innovative programs for both the people we support, and our Direct Support Professionals have received national recognition.

Our Penn-Mar Consulting branch works with like-minded organizations and leaders to share innovative approaches and best practices to support a life well-lived for all people. Our team of subject matter experts is well-versed in the diverse aspects of leadership, organizational transformation, innovative approaches, and industry trends.  www.penn-mar.org.
