Medicaid Waiver redeterminations have become one of the greatest challenges for people who receive DDA-funded services and the programs that support them. For some, redetermination have become a threat to their continuing services.
This training explains:
The purpose of Medicaid Waiver annual redetermination
How they are supposed to work
How they are working (or not working) in practice
The most common problems and how to troubleshoot them
How to get help resolving problems with redeterminations
Some recommendations to improve the redetermination process
Facilitator: Michael Dalto is a big, old benefits geek. He has delivered presentations on benefits and work incentives to thousands of people with disabilities, family members, and professionals since 1989. He created state certification for Maryland benefits counselors and provided training and technical assistance for the certification. He oversaw benefits counseling for the PROMISE project, a research grant that served youths who receive SSI and their families. He also consulted with the Institute for Community Inclusion of the University of Massachusetts Boston on the SGA Project, a research effort that tested interventions to support vocational rehabilitation consumers in Kentucky and Minnesota to work their way off Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits. He has written training materials about benefits and provided technical assistance to Virginia Commonwealth University’s National Training and Data Center. He now consults with Cornell University and the National Association of Blind Merchants.

This payment is not deductible as a charitable contribution but may be deducted as a business expense. Please provide notice of accommodations needed two weeks in advance.
Courses have individual attendance requirements to receive a certificate. Please inquire with the trainer before missing any classes.
Unregistered Attendees: Training fees are per seat. Only those who have registered for a training are allowed to attend. If MD Works identifies unregistered attendees in a training course, MD Works will invoice for each unregistered attendee.
